Constituency coffee mornings: Grimsargh

The kettle went on in Grimsargh as I held my seventh coffee morning with a bumper turnout.

Grimsargh Village Hall was the venue, with around sixty constituents joining me and my team for a brew and chat, followed by a question-and-answer session.

I’m keen to be as open as possible so it’s always interesting to hear the questions you all ask. This time around, I heard from constituents about care home availability, difficulties facing the logistics sector and support for those with disabilities.

Health concerns

The procedure for blood tests was also a concern for several residents as well as plans for a new Royal Preston Hospital.

Roadworks through Grimsargh, and resulting congestion, was a shared frustration for many who came along and I remain committed to pushing for answers from Lancashire County Council.

Community spirit

What was lovely before and after the session was witnessing the real sense of community in the room.
An officer from Grimsargh Cricket Club spoke of how joining the club a year before had been the best decision he ever made, and I know he received support from others at the event when he shared the club’s fundraising goals.

Thanks to everyone who came along.
