Thirty people filled Fulwood Methodist Church for my latest constituency coffee morning.
This was coffee morning number four and I’m really enjoying them all. It’s a great chance to get out around this varied constituency and meet so many of you face-to-face.
After I’d spoken about my national and local priorities, including for Fulwood, we changed things up a bit this time around, staging a whole-room question-and-answer session followed by smaller one-to-ones.
NHS services were high on the agenda, particularly around mental health, with people sharing that they have to travel to Blackburn, Chorley and Manchester for support.
Healthcare issues
There were also questions about the availability of GP appointments and whether investment will continue to be made at Royal Preston Hospital ahead of the hospital moving to its new site.
I reassured those in the room that £37m was spent on the hospital last year and that I’ll continue to lobby ministers to ensure investment continues to be made where needed.
Other questions covered social housing conditions, local policing and Access to Work.
Young constituent
One impressive moment came when a boy attending with his mum got on the microphone and said he’d like a park near his home.
He had so much confidence and it was great that he came along and gave his feedback. Thanks again to everyone who came along!
