I back British farming all year round and I’m so grateful to all the farmers across Ribble Valley, South Ribble and Preston who have taught me so much in the past few years, and who have worked so hard with me and my work in the Labour Rural Research Group, to put rural policy at the heart of Labour Policy.
On Back British Farming Day, it was lovely to see the buzz around Parliament. My team and I took part in lots of events, wore our NFU wheatsheaf pins proudly and I met with Ribble Valley agricultural businesses and the Agricultural Industries Confederation in Westminster.
Farming communities keep Britain moving, providing the food we eat, caring for our countryside and keeping rural economies growing.
I’m proud to be part of extensive work to support farmers, both in Westminster and in Ribble Valley, through my regular engagement events and by working with those farmers who contact my office for support.
Food security is national security, and it’s important that we all do our bit to back the sector to ensure these businesses are here for the long term.
I’ll be holding my next farmer engagement event later this year, when I look forward to continuing to work with the community.
