Two Ribble Valley agricultural businesses travelled to Westminster and I was pleased to meet them.
Robert Ingham, one of my constituents and a director of Glasson Fertilisers, and Alister Davies, UK Commercial Manager Beef and Sheep at Walton Summit-based ForFarmers, invited me to a reception hosted by the Agricultural Industries Confederation at the House of Commons.
The visit came during the same week as Back British Farming Day and it was really interesting to speak to Robert and Alister about the issues facing their industry and the wider farming community.
Glasson Fertilisers supplies fertiliser to farms across Lancashire and Ribble Valley, as well as across the UK, and Robert, who I’d met at one of my coffee mornings, is chairman of the AIC Fertiliser Sector.
ForFarmers is an agricultural input supply company operating across the entire food industry supply chain, providing services to farmers in UK.
It was great to talk with both businesses and other stakeholders about how the Labour Rural Research Group is working hard on rural policy within this Labour Government.
