Joining panel discussion to inspire next generation of women in public service

When I was elected in 2024, I was one of the largest group of women MPs to be elected to Parliament (263 out of 650).
We’re also a group from all walks of life, having had varied careers before entering politics – experience we bring to every debate and discussion.

This kind of representation matters, so I was pleased to join a panel discussion bringing together women interested in public service.

The Equal Seats = Equal Say cross-party event, at the University of Salford, discussed the realities of political life, pathways into office and the challenges and opportunities.

I shared my route to becoming Ribble Valley MP, my thoughts two years in and the achievements I’ve been most proud of so far. Thanks to organisers 50:50 Parliament for the invite.
