Two schools in my constituency will benefit from building improvements thanks to government funding.
I’m delighted to have secured cash for Walton-le-Dale High School and Lostock Hall Academy as part of the Condition Improvement Fund.
The fund forms part of our 10-year plan to renew education buildings to ensure children learn in high-quality classrooms that are fit-for-purpose.
The schools are two of 684 across England to benefit as part of the School Rebuilding Programme, which is rebuilding and refurbishing schools across the country, including those whose buildings contained dangerous RAAC materials.
It’s one part of our investment of more than £2.1bn to improve the condition of schools, along with a £3.7bn investment to support councils in providing places for children and young people with SEND between 2025 and 2030.
The money will fund projects like installing new boilers, roofing works, electrical works and asbestos removal, among others.
